Experiencing the concept and ideology of cooperativa performativa of functioning as a productive group in a working process of 10 days was intriguing to me and made me look for new approaches of making work in a shared environment.
The condition of sharing space and time creates and environment where the focus becomes widened, maybe less sharp because of the constant direct distraction within the space around you. (As there are most of the times several artists occupying the space at the same time, concentration on a certain topic can spread or blur.) This blurriness of focus has its own quality. It might make you produce and propose from a less self centred source and intention.
This can have a very productive outcome;
It can also be the opposite though.
I feel for this concept to function in a way that it seems enriching for all participants, it demands a certain sensibility of “listening” to the other and to grant “space” to each individual's needs. Like in most group constellations, there is a glimpse of danger of a primitive strategy of simple intellectual and territorial “human survival”.
(The once that occupy the most space (acoustic, aerial, intellectual space) are the ones that are most visible.
In order to be aware of this it demands an openness and willingness from each participant to respect and value the others needs and not to impose your own ideas and expectation to the other.
But of course there is always the possibility of leaving if you feel your very individual needs refuse to adapt to the given situation..
